Mr Eazi - Something Else EP @mreazi

Mr Eazi is Something Else : Check out his newly released Something Else EP

Global afropop superstar and music business visionary MR EAZI steps into 2021 with

Something Else , a brief yet epic five-song EP featuring production from a roll call of top

Nigerian beatmakers ( Killertunes , E Kelly , Kel P , Blaq Jerzee and Spellz ).

After spending much of the last year growing his business empire and mentoring

young artists in his emPawa Africa incubator, S omething Else finds Eazi returning to the

smoothed-out fusion of afrobeats and highlife he first developed on massive hits like

“Skin Tight” and “Leg Over.”

“I spent the entire year working on building emPawa Africa and morphing into Don

Eazi, the mogul,” Eazi says playfully. “I almost had no time to record. This project was

inspired by Kel P and Killertunes, who kept coming to meet me in Accra until I finally

recorded ‘The Don.’ And that opened the door for me getting back in the studio.”

“The Don,” with its operatic intro, is the opening track on S omething Else , inviting

listeners into Eazi’s ever-expanding world while “Love For You” is vintage Mr Eazi, a

tender afrobeats track equally fit for club nights and family celebrations. Elsewhere, the

Kel P-produced “E Be Mad” surrounds Eazi’s sonorous tenor with gorgeous guitar

melodies and sax notes for a more vintage feel. “‘E Be Mad’ is a love song dedicated

to everyone in a long relationship wanting to take it further,” Eazi explains.

“Saudi Arabia,” one of two tracks produced by Blaq Jerzee, was inspired by time Eazi

recently spent in the Middle East. “It’s a feel-good jam expressing love to your loved

ones. The line goes like “I’ll cherish you, I go treasure you, everyday I go pamper you

like the gold and silver that I found in Saudi Arabia.”

While the tracks were recorded with a diverse set of producers, there’s a harmony to

Something Else . For Eazi, the project represents an intermission, or “calm before the

storm,” in his journey from the artist on breakthrough projects Life Is Eazi, Vol. 1 -

Accra To Lagos (2017) and L ife Is Eazi, Vol. 2 - Lagos to London (2018) project to the

globe-changing Don of his as-yet-untitled debut album.
